Professional Development

LVE provides tools and guiding principles to educators, leaders, and parents to help them empower the whole child - intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.  LVE reaches students from preschool age to young adults, in both traditional school and after-school settings.  Our program is being implemented by individuals, families, schools and entire communities.

Living Values Educational Program (LVEP) is unusually comprehensive, offering both content and methodology.  Educators teach values through modeling and facilitating a values-exploration process that includes reflection and a variety of values activities.

Our organization provides professional development courses, seminars and workshops for educators, counselors, parents and others as part of the training program.  Hundreds of teacher-written lessons are available that build skills sequentially.  LVE also networks with nationwide programs that aim to reinforce positive character traits and emotional intelligence in students.

OVERVIEW OF SERVICES

Educators interested in learning about and gaining proficiency in the Living Values Education approach have a variety of options.  Below you'll find just an overview of the services we offer.  To learn more, or to begin the process of developing an onsite professional development plan that suits your needs, please contact Anne Rarich, LVEP at 888-589-5837.

Half-Day Introduction to Living Values Education

Our introductory overview is an opportunity to explore foundational ideas, see practices in action, investigate LVEP approaches to discipline, and experience an activity from one of the LVEP books. This workshop is offered in two formats:

  • The LVEP Sampler is designed for elementary school classroom teachers and other school staff.

  • The LVEP Overview for Administrators is customized for school and district or other community leaders.

For many teachers, taking the Living Values Education Training is an ideal way to start. LVEP provides an intensive, hands-on introduction to practices at the heart of the LVEP approach. This two-and-a-half day course is offered each summer in many locations and can also be presented as a series of on-site sessions for a group from a school or district.

Want to Learn More?

Follow up sessions on a variety of topics from discipline to academics can be tailored for requesting organizations that have already experienced a two and a half day training.

If You Cancel

If you provide LVEP with notice of your cancellation at least 7 days before the event date, we will provide you with a credit to attend a future event, less a 10% handling fee.

If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the event, you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop.

If you cancel on the first day of the event, you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop. If you cancel after the first day, your cancellation will result in no credit of any kind and your tuition will be forfeited. Notification must be received by 9 a.m. for one-day events, and by the end of the first day for multi-day events such as two and a half day workshops.

If you choose not to attend, for whatever reason, without notification to LVE before the start date of the event, your tuition fee is subject to full forfeiture.

If you find it necessary to cancel for any reason, please make sure that you receive a cancellation number from us. You may be asked to provide us with this cancellation number at a later date when you use your credit or if there is a dispute about your cancellation status.

All credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.

You may substitute another person in your place instead of cancelling. It’s okay if the replacement teaches a different grade or performs different school duties from you. Call 888-589-5837 or email Registration@livingvalueseducation.org as soon as possible with any substitution requests.

If We Cancel

Occasionally we find it necessary to cancel a workshop. LVEP  reserves the right to cancel events for any reason, including inclement weather (see below). If LV EP  makes the decision to cancel a workshop ,we will use the contact information you have provided to us to inform you. If LVEP cancels, participants will be provided a choice of:

  • a full refund;
  • transfer to another, upcoming workshop or institute date and location (space permitting);
  • credit toward a future workshop or institute. (Please note that all credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.)

Certificates of Attendance

You will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the workshop or institute indicating that you have attended the LVEP full training.  This certificate is for those people who have attended the entire workshop.

If a you have an emergency or an illness, we will offer a certificate if you have missed no more than one-half day of the two and a half day workshop or, in the case of a half-day workshop if you have missed no more than one-quarter of the workshop. If an illness or emergency will take you out of the workshop or institute for more than that, you will not receive a certificate but you may receive a credit to attend a future workshop or institute less a 50% handling fee. If you have any questions about this guideline or about a specific situation at your workshop , please contact LVEP.

Changing Your Choice of Workshop Location

If you sign up for a particular workshop location and must change your choice later, call (888-589-5837)or email Registration@livingvalueseducation.org as soon as possible. We will accommodate your request if space is available.

Inclement Weather

If there is severe weather, participants should call ahead to confirm that the workshop or institute is still going to run. If we cancel on account of weather, we’ll contact you using the information you have provided to us, and we will put an announcement about the closure on our website.

If you decide not to attend the workshop due to weather conditions, but the workshop or institute has not been cancelled by us, it is important that you call or email as soon as possible to let us know. You will be entitled to receive a credit that can be applied for one (1) year from the date it was issued towards future training only if you notify us before the start of the workshop or institute.
